I went from a highly active job to a desk job. My back pain became very bad and I gained weight. I needed a chair that would help with pain and posture. I’m searching, I found this gem and let me tell you…. It’s perfect! So perfect, I’m fact, I bought 2 more! 1 for work, 1 for my work out area and 1 for my vanity (I like It that much!)It’s sturdy, comfortable, helps with posture, stretching and core strengthening. Two huge perks are that it has wheels and I roll all over the place so it keeps your legs active and it helps you booty look nice and perky ?I’m 5’2 and this ball is perfect but you can add more or less air to fit your height. I cant tell you how much I love This ball! If you are in the market… I highly Recommend this one! I bought 2 other brands but returned them! This is THE ONE!Very pleased with the chair overall. I'm 6' and was worried it would be a little short. It might be but getting the roller blade wheel casters or a larger ball would be an easy fix.Now the casters, I absolutely hate. Why they put locking casters on this thing is beyond me. Why they put casters that lock on a hair trigger seems malevolent. I've had these casters lockup because the vibration from rolling the chair was too much. My current solution is superglue and cut off the tabs. If all else fails, I'll just buy new casters. The kit seems to come with a few unnessicary items. I see no need for the metal rails of the evil locking casters. It would be nice if they just ommited these items and shaved the price a hair.I got it because I'd hurt my tailbone years ago and sitting makes it ache. New subject to teach and I thought I would get more sitting opportunities with it than before. Haven't had 2 full weeks yet to know if that will be true. Anyway, knowing the bars tend to break, I didn't put them in and ball sits fine, no problem.I am a teacher and bought this to use at school. I love that it slides under my desk. It is comfortable to sit on when grading and using the computer. I really enjoy doing stretches throughout the day. Great purchase!Follow the instructions to the T about inflating the ball. The ball will expand to the full size as listed on the box. The instructions were easy to follow.5 stars for comfort /utility but minus 1 for quality. Very comfortable. Must press hard to insert casters all the way. Casters work suprisingly well on carpet, but locks not needed. Constant accidental locking resulted in chair resulted in discomfort and bad posture (ex.: not keeping up with body when scoot in\ out from desk) so bad had to glue open then cut off lock tab- been great since. For desk is as comfortable as a yoga ball but better as base gives stability, mobility and added height without added width. Only downside : bars and caster wheels seat metal into plastic "tube" in hollow base ( so weak point that could eventually warp or point.) Tacky plastic of ball helps not sliding out of position on ball but not that comfortable in hot temps or when wearing shorts so considering ball cover.I love the base of this chair but I was not crazy about the ball. It was soo small and firm for my taste.I bought another ball that is a bit larger and softer. I like that much better.I have lower back arthritis and a hip issue and this chair is much more comfortable than any regular chair that I have found. PS: I work full time and I'm at my computer most of the time, so it gets a lot of use.A lot of the reviews on here state that the ball is a child's ball, doesn't fit, etc. But some reviews insisted that it was. So I went in with some apprehension, had the problem been solved? I definitely worried when I first inflated mine that the ball was the wrong size, but IF YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS it will tell you to let the ball stretch for 24 hours deflate 50% and fill again. I would add that you might need to do this more than once. I was still not at the full size on the 2nd day, but waited another 24 hours (didn't deflate) and added some more air and then did it again the next day. So all in all, it took four days to get my ball to the right size, but the chair is at my work office and not at my house, so you may be able to get it fully inflated sooner, I just intentionally took my time with it.As far as comfort? The ball ends up being a lot firmer than I realized it would be, but that's better for your posture. I appreciate that it fits under my desk so that I can have that space open when I need it. I spend a lot of time at work sitting, so I appreciate that I'm getting some work on my core while at my desk. A worthwhile investment. This is the second time I've purchased this item. And both times, the shipment was defective in some way. The first time a plug for the ball was not included. I had to email Gaiam to send a plug, which they did; it took two weeks to arrive and the plug was the wrong size. (It holds the air in well-enough but it protrudes 2cm.) The second time, they sent what appears to be a junior-sized ball. So, the chair is useless and I have to go through the trouble/wait of contacting the company to fix it. I like the chair, when it works. But the quality control is atrocious. When first using this stability ball chair, I perceived the review comments regarding the locking mechanisms on the wheels to be a bit much... after ongoing use, however, I have found it slightly irritating that my heels easily hit the locking mechanism... My initial solution was to turn the two wheels with the locks to the back, but the chair invariably turns throughout the day and I end up engaging the wheel locks... That said, it's a minor inconvenience. This chair is a significant improvement from the desk chair I was previously using. Easy to assemble, comfortable and good height for a standard desk. Highly recommend.Everyone working in an office needs one of these. I bought the back less. I figured the back support was pointless if you are looking to improve posture. My back no longer hurts!! When I sit in a regular chair I notice after about 5 min how bad my posture is because my back starts to hurt. Just buy one already!!I bought this for my husband since he has been working from home. He actually only used it for a few days and decided it was too high. He is 6' and he uses a regular chair at his desk just fine. My daughter took it took use for her school work (university student studying all day), she also found it too tall (she's 5'3"). Sooooo, we'll find another user for it. I've used it a few times to workout, with the ball removed from the base. There's really nothing to complain about. It's study, and great quality.
