Original Post: December 1st 2021Back Story:My experience with office chairs has been negatively correlated with a chairs quality in structure, and my gaining excessive weight. That simply means that as I began to gain excessive weight, its structural quality would deteriorate. Generally, chairs would start with loosing it's ability to hold height adjustments, by sinking slowly or quickly. Then, its ability to remain parallel with the ground (when upright) deteriorates, and will eventually lean towards one direction, even sometimes forward.Leaning & Holding its Height Adjustments:After reading reviews for this chair, and learning how customers experienced the inability to rock or lean back; I decided that this chair sounded heavy duty enough, and so, I bought it. My expectation has been for the chair to remain structurally sound and remain upright when the lever is pushed in. I expected this to function as intended, and to have that function preserved or otherwise protected while in use. And I expect this for as long as possible. So far, it's been five weeks, and it has held up. It feels... Solid?... Sturdy?... I can lean back in the intended way and feel that it is dependable/predictable. When the chair first arrived it could not lean back or rock… It eventually made a cracking sound and then began to lean back when the lever was pulled out. Works fine, maybe there should be q minimum weight recommendation. This chair is heavy duty.Comfort:Its wide enough and the arms don't dig into me. This chair feels sturdy and heavy duty. I can lean back and I have trust that it wont lead me crashing to the floor, or more realistically . I rated 4 stars because the seating cushion is insufficient. Most days I sit in my office chair for 10+ hours. I’m an office guy. And I enjoy computer games, Microsoft software, writing and I work from home. I also use my Computer for Netflix. Also, I weigh 360 pounds. So, how much comfort can I expect for the seating cushion? The cushion was comfortable when I first bought it. My butt gets a little sore after hours of sitting, and it feels like I can feel the metal frame below.Considering all of this, I value quality and structure before comfort. I would recommend this chair. I will update this post when the quality finally breaks down, because I cant imagine the quality lasting the rest of my life... or may e it will if I keep overeating lol. I will be updating this post to report any deterioration. Otherwise, just know that it's in good condition. If you are like me, and had many shitty chairs, you would understand how very motivated I am to keep this post updated.Would recommend getting the hard roller wheels, the Rollerblade typeThis is by far the best chair I've ever gotten. I've gone through tons of chairs - especially because I'm heavy. I bought this chair October 2019 and even though my cat attacked it like it was his favorite toy, this thing held up under everything. I used it daily for 9 - 12 hours and I never felt like the padding was failing. It was wide enough I could sit with both of my legs crossed.I did have to retighten one of the arms - I tend to favor one side over the other - but that's not even an issue to me.My only complaint is that it's sold out right now :( I just moved and couldn't take the chair with me, but as soon as it's back in stock you can bet I'm getting it again.Update 10/3 - I bought this chair again in August 2020 and I will say that I still adore it. The only thing is that with the other times I've bought it, I've noticed the same thing; the cushioning really starts to wear out once you hit 5 months of use. I'm in it about 10 - 15 hours on the busiest days and 6 - 8 on others, so it gets pretty heavy use constantly. I'm around 300lbs , 5'3 and I sit with my legs under me usually. When I'm sitting straight, with my feet on the floor, my neck hits the head rest. The cushioning hasn't gone down on the arm rests at all in the 5 - 6 months I've had the chair. The seat cushioning right now isn't unbearable, I can probably get another month or two out of this before my tailbone is dying.Overall, I still love this chair and although the cushioning doesn't last forever, I will probably end up buying another. The reality is that there aren't many office chairs legitimately tailored to people who are heavier and I've been through so many chairs over the years that I've accepted I'll have to dish out more money to have the best chair until it's unusable. If you're looking for an office chair that reclines just as easily as you would like any chair to, this is not that chair. I talked on the phone with a representative and he said that since it is a big and tall chair, it not being able to stay reclined is a "safety" feature. I tried to get him to tell me a way to DIY the tension looser myself, or maybe even send me a tension knob with less resistance (that i would've gladly payed for), but he basically said "yeah sorry, it is what it is". Even with the tension knob turned all the way to the loosest setting, I have to push off of a wall with my legs to even keep it reclined. For reference, I am 5'8", 220 pounds. If I sit in this chair upright, the head cushion cradles the nape of my neck just right. I never considered myself tall, but apparently I am! (right...)Another helpful fact, the arm rests lie just under 27 inches off the ground when set to the lowest height, and the chair can lift off the ground another 3 inches if needed.Overall seems like a nice chair. It just doesn't stay reclined. Major bummer. Now I gotta spend about 40 bucks to have it returned. I hope I saved you some money and time.Maybe they should mention the sacrifice of comfort for "safety" in the description...
