The LaZBoy Trafford Executive Chair (Black model) is an excellent option if your looking for an office/work chair that has a premium look and feel to it. I was initially looking for one of those automotive-style "gaming" chairs for my home, but most of them are styled more towards the Fast-and-The-Furious market than the middle-aged-business-professional-that-can-still-game set that I belong to. Even the leather/pleather models have just a bit too much branding/logo action that I wanted. I was also considering going all-in and buying either a Herman Miller Aeron or Mira2 chair, but at the $1,000.00 to $1,300.00+ range, I wasn't sure if I could justify the price. So, I took a chance and went with the LaZBoy Trafford, primarily because I have a few LaZBoy pieces of furniture in my house (superb quality and durability), it rocks an old-school leather and wood aesthetic that screams luxury and the price (just under $300.00) is pretty unbelievable for what you're getting.First off, let me tell you that this is a BIG chair! No getting around it...it's very plush, very stable and very heavy. It didn't take very long to put together and everything you need is included in the box, hex wrench included. I have read other reviews pointing out scratched/torn leather and damaged wood surfaces, but my chair was free of such imperfections. The cable-actuated adjustments work very well and the gas-piston cylinder is smooth and solid; no evidence of "sink" once you set your desired chair height. The recline stiffness knob is quite stiff, but thankfully, once you set how "free" you want the recline action to be, I don't think you would need to adjust this too much further. Speaking of recline, I do wish there was more range, however, there is no feeling of the chair tipping over while fully leaned back...this is a very stable chair. The included casters are plastic, but are also surprisingly friction-free during movement. I am on a chair mat, however, so your mileage may vary depending on your floor situation. Finally, the chair is supremely comfortable for me. The multi-density padding on the seat works very well in not only providing a well-cushioned seat, but "locking" you in so that the seat back can provide a good amount of lumbar support to your lower back. The seat back has a "air pocket" area that allows air to flow freely behind you to alleviate "hot spots"; it must work, because after several multi-hour sessions planted in the chair, I haven't had any of the heat/breathability issues I've had with other leather-surfaced chairs.I've used a few chairs that are more comfortable and more ergonomic than this one...primarily the aforementioned Herman Miller Aeron and Mira chairs. But they cost 4 times as much. The LaZBoy Trafford comes very close to their comfort level for a much cheaper price. It comes from a reputable company and carries a 10 year warranty. It has a very refined, upscale look that will fit well with any décor. It's a very good chair on its own, but it's an incredible chair at this price.Comfortable and easy to assemble.i got this chair and put it together today. the right arm was damaged in manufacturing where its clear the hole started to drill in the wrong spot, stopped, and drilled in the right spot. the overall comfort of the chair is.... decent, but nowhere near what i was expecting having had the fairmont chair last time.its been about 7 years since i bought my fairmont so im not sure if its just worn in really well, but the fairmont seat which is only supposed to be 1/2 of an inch longer is about 2 1/2 inches longer, and a fair amount wider between the arms as well. as i mentioned this could be because of it being worn in from 7 years of use.i was honestly expecting a much softer chair given the fact that this chair has the "comfort core plus with memory foam" but it seems fairly firm overall.i do have some concerns with the plastic piece on the bottom of the chair. the instructions showed that you are supposed to place the metal base over the plastic, but this chair is rated to 400 pounds (350 according to the instructions) so having a plastic piece be part of the main support seems odd.when i was putting the chair together, all was going well, except i heard some... what sounded like wood cracking and breaking while i was putting on the back. it seemed like the bottom of the seat was actually breaking from screwing in the screws that werent even tight yet.overall i want to love this chair. maybe im just spoiled on a chair thats broken in from years of use, but the seat has gone fairly flat on that one. perhaps after a few days this one will break in a bit, but im still a little thrown off by the fact that the seat is so firm.I like the style of it also. We use it for office work bc of the excellent back support. My brother also purchased the same one after he sat in ours! The Trafford is a great chair for my personal office. Meets all my expectations. Exactly as described on the Amazon site. Not difficult to assemble. Instructions were clear. The star base was damaged when opened. This was replaced in a timely manner (by the vendor ... not Amazon) upon understanding and following the established procedures. No significant delay. This was a great purchase for me, especially since I bought on a price dip notified via camelcamelcamel. This is a really good chair for those of us who are in the Big and Bigger category. Comfortable, good looking, and sturdy. Only reason its not a 5 is that some of parts didn't fit right. I bought two chairs and the first chair wouldn't allow me to put the plastic plugs in the offsets for the screws. I worked around it. The second chair had to be returned due to the cylinder not fitting properly in the base. (I paid for assembly so either the assemblers did something wrong or the chair was not right.) I reordered because I liked the chair so much and the last chair arrived and was assembled with no issue. It was worth it. I now have two great chairs in my office and am quite satisfied.Super comfortable and perfect fit for my desk. The chair is comfortable enough but it has a tendency to wobble on the seat a little bit, it also looks liked paint was dripped on the left arm of the chair. Other than those problems it suits me just fine.the chair for me is too big
